Aldren Drive Systems
A gear drive that explains itself
The demonstration on our own homepage. A conventional manufacturer's website is taken apart and rebuilt around a live 3D product: a planetary gear drive that assembles, explodes and runs as you scroll.

The opportunity
Industrial companies often sell products that are fascinating inside and dull on screen: one catalogue photo, a spec table and a PDF. We wanted to show what happens when the product itself becomes the interface.
The direction
- 1Modelled the drive procedurally in code, with correct planetary gear ratios (12, 18 and 48 teeth), so the mechanism moves the way a real one would.
- 2Designed five representations of the same object: technical drawing, exploded view, assembly sequence, power flow and finished product.
- 3Kept every word in server-rendered HTML; the 3D layer is decorative and replaced by still imagery for reduced-motion and low-power devices.
Why it matters
A reusable pattern for product storytelling: one object, many states, each one clearer than a photograph.
